your hosts

Your hosts Claudia and Georg welcome you to NIGANA Cairns, our friendly and comfortable Bed and Breakfast in Tropical Far North Queensland. Originally from Switzerland and Germany, we have spent most of our free time travelling to other countries. It was during our first visit to Australia in 1992 that we fell in love with Cairns.

Ten years later..... the 21st June 2002 was a big day for us. After packing our complete household in a container in almost 40 degrees (very rare in Switzerland!) and a Farwell Party with lots of tears, we finally sat in the plane to our new home in Cairns/Australia.

In July 2006 we decided to renovate our house and on the 1st Mai 2007 we opened the door to our beautiful NIGANA Bed and Breakfast.

We invite you to join us at NIGANA Cairns Bed and Breakfast to share the beauty of Far North Queensland with us.

Our pets


Asko pet friendly Bnb

Asko is our Chocolate Labrador. He has the most beautiful nature and loves to welcome all dogs [and guests :)] that arrive at Nigana BnB.



Rico pet friendly Bnb

Rico is our Hungarian Vizsla. He is very energetic and loves to play all day long! We brought him to Australia from Hungary. He had to stay 4 weeks in Quarantine in Melbourne. He makes us laugh every day!


Chico pet friendly Bnb

Chico is our beautiful cat. Unfortunately he lost one leg last year, in a rat trap. But he is still a happy boy!


If you are afraid of dogs please let us know! We can manage to keep them away from you.

Pet friendly Bed and Breakfast


As animal lovers ourselves, we welcome guests who would like to bring along the WHOLE family, including their special companion. However we do aks you to respect our pet friendly policy:

  • Your pet must have a vaccination certificate, have been recently wormed and received flea treatment prior to visiting our B&B.
  • House-trained pets are allowed inside the apartment, but please not on the furniture and not in the bedrooms.
  • We do not allow dogs inside the studio, pool and spa area.
  • Please supervise your pet at all times. When you go out, pets cannot be left alone either inside the B&B or the outside area.
  • Due to health regulations, please feed your pet outside, on the verandah.
  • If your dog is prone to barking, please do not leave it unattended where it may disturb other guests and our neighbours.
  • Please keep cats well contained within the apartment, or when outside, in a pet crate or on a secure leash at all times.
  • Please clean up after your pet and dispose of the waste in the outdoor bin, using the plastic bags provided.
  • For your convenience, our "pet-sitting" service is available by arrangement at reasonable cost.
